Most technologies alienate us with algorithms and AI that narrow our focus and our group identification. Synanim helps strengthen social connection through creative work. It brings us together by celebrating our differences. Participants experience the full richness of a variety of perspectives. 



 

An engaging task for realizing this effect is to collaboratively develop a screenplay or a play for a local theater. Storytelling has been a part of the human experience for at least 30,000 years, as evidenced by the paintings of Lascaux Cave in France. There are infinite ways to structure your Synanim storytelling experience, but here are the primary components:


   1. Identify the story and message. Explore conflicts that illuminate your message.
   2. Create the main character and an antagonist to initiate and develop conflict.
   3. Develop setting and plot.

What this does:
The purpose of such an exercise is to connect over shared concerns and aspirations. Participants are engaged by a desire to illuminate aspects of life that have personal relevance and meaning. It enables everyone to express themselves, their fears, their aspirations, without feeling vulnerable, the hallmark of human connection.
